BASIC Requirements and Photo Specifications 1.Basic Requirements of a Passport Application:
Passport application in prescribed format (to be filled online at www.passport.gov.in/nri/)
Photographs in colour and the size of 2 inch x 2 inch (51mm x 51 mm).
Proof of Date of Birth i.e. birth certificate, etc.
Proof of identity & nationality (old passport)
For reissue of passport, the recently expired passport having expired Visa or Residence Permit is required,along with photocopies of pages containing detailed passport particulars, Visa page and the ECNR/ observation/ endorsementpages,if any (photocopies should be self-attested by the applicant). In case the latest passport is an additional booklet issued to the original passport, the additional booklet plus the original passport must be furnished.
Proof of residence isrequired in case of first passport or change of address from that in the previous passport. Proof may be in the form ofUittreksel, Aadhar Card, registered rent agreement executed in favour of the tenant by the landlord for a period of more than one year, utility bill, etc.
Proof of valid permission (residence permit/ visa) to stay in the Netherlands.

2.Photographs for Indian Passport
With a view to implement the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) guidelines on Machine Readable Passport, the requirements related to photograph (specifications athttps://passport.gov.in/oci/Photo-Spec-FINAL.pdf) for passports must be followed. The photo should be in colour and of the size 2 inch x 2 inch (51mm x 51 mm).
The face must be taken from a full frontal position and the height of the face must meet the prescribed specifications.
The eyes must be open, level and clearly visible within the indicated area.
The face should be centred within the frame. The face should be 70 to 80% of the photo.
The photo should be clear and with a continuous-tone quality.
The background should be a plain white or off-white and there should not be any distracting shadows on the face or on the background.
The photo should have full face, front view, eyes open and should present full head from top of hair to bottom of chin.
Head coverings are not permitted except for religious reasons, but the facial features from bottom of chin to top of forehead and both edges of the face must be clearly shown.
Prescription glasses if worn should be clear and thin framed and should not have flash reflection or obscure the eyes.
Red eyed photos are not allowed.
The photo should be ideally printed by a professional photo studio. Polaroid photos or photos printed with ordinary printers will not be suitable for scanning. passport seekers are, therefore, advised to submit the photographs as specified, to avoid delay in processing their passport applications.
